Rockfall Investigation and Mitigation
Rockfall Investigation
Every year, Hawaii experiences multiple incidents of falling rocks on roadways, public and private properties. As the first phase of our rockfall investigation and mitigation services, we conduct a rockfall investigation that involves searching and mapping rocks with falling potentials on the uphill areas. Then evaluate the potential of these rocks falling down to the lower properties.
Rockfall Mitigation
We analyze the potential for rockfall and provide mitigation recommendations to our clients. Rockfall hazards are typically mitigated in one of two ways: either by active or passive mitigation.
Active mitigation methods include rock bolting, slope retention systems, dislodging loose rocks, reshaping the slope, and applying shotcrete in the initiation zone.
Passive mitigation methods include using drape nets, catchment basins, fences, and dams.
