Field Testing and Monitoring
Field Moisture Density, CBR, infiltration, and Percolation Test
The geotechnical field testing is a term used for all in-situ based methods and techniques that qualitatively and quantitatively determine physical, strength, deformability and hydromechanical properties of geomaterials on site. The field moisture and density tests are conducted to check the compaction effort of the soil. The California Bearing Ratio (CBR) test is performed to determine the soil’s pavement support characters. Infiltration and percolation tests are conducted to determine the in-situ soil permeability.
Field CBR tests are often required by government agencies to verify the soil’s pavement support characters of the compacted subgrade, subbase, and base course. Infiltration or percolation tests are required for the majority of new developments due to new building codes.
Groundwater Level and Ground movement monitoring, field resistivity test
Our geotechnical field testing services also include piezometer test, inclinometer test, settlement monitoring, ground motion monitoring, and resistivity test.
Piezometer tests are used to measure pore water pressure in the soil. Inclinometer tests are used to measure the lateral displacement of soil and rock. Settlement monitoring is used to measure the vertical movement of soil and rock. Ground motion monitoring is used to measure the vibrations of soil and rock. Resistivity tests are used to measure the electrical resistance of soil and rock.
Groundwater level, ground movement, and ground motion monitoring programs are often required in landslide areas, slopes, excavation construction areas, and newly filled areas. Field resistivity tests are required for projects involving buried utility pipes.
Load Tests
Our geotechnical engineering services include static and dynamic load tests for piles, shafts, piers, micropiles, soil anchors, and rock anchors.
These tests are used to determine the ultimate load-carrying capacity of the piles and anchors and verify the design assumptions.
